Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Kidy View (“the app”) handles your and your child’s information. Emfox Studio OÜ (“we,” “us,” or “our”) developed Kidy View as a children-friendly app for viewing photos and videos stored on your own device. We are committed to protecting user privacy and complying with all applicable privacy laws, including the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), especially for apps intended for children.

No User Accounts and No Personal Data Collection

Kidy View does not require any user accounts or login. We do not collect any personal information from you or your child. Specifically:

  • No Personal Details: We do not ask for or collect names, ages, addresses, phone numbers, emails, or any personal identifiers.

  • No Photos or Videos Uploaded: Photos and videos viewed in Kidy View remain on your device. The app does not upload or send this media to any server or external service. All viewing is local on your device.

  • No Location Data: Kidy View does not access or collect location information from your device.

  • No Contact or Sensor Data: The app does not access contacts, microphones, or other sensitive device sensors.

In summary, we do not collect or transmit any personal user data. The app is designed to be used offline with your device’s existing media.

In-App Purchases and Subscriptions

Kidy View offers subscription-based features (premium content or functionality) which are purchased through Apple’s App Store. All subscription purchases are processed by Apple via your App Store account, in compliance with Apple’s secure payment system. We do not directly collect any payment information (such as credit card numbers).

To manage subscriptions and provide subscription status across devices, we use a third-party service called RevenueCat. RevenueCat helps us know if you have an active subscription. Importantly:

  • Purchase Data: RevenueCat may receive non-personal data from Apple, such as an anonymized purchase receipt or subscription status. This information is used only to confirm your subscription access within the app.

  • No Personal Information via RevenueCat: RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or other personal details – it only processes subscription validation data.

  • No Third-Party Ads or Analytics: Kidy View does not include any third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not track usage analytics in the app in order to protect children’s privacy. There are no ads displayed in the app at all.

All in-app purchases are optional and are fully under parent or guardian control through the App Store. If you do not initiate a subscription purchase, the app remains fully functional for its free features without any data transmission.

How We Use Information

Since Kidy View does not collect personal data, we have very limited information usage:

  • Local Device Media: The app only accesses photos and videos on your device to display them to the user. This access happens with your permission (e.g., if the operating system asks to allow access to your media library). The media data never leaves your device.

  • Subscription Status: We use the subscription information (from Apple/RevenueCat) solely to unlock premium features. This subscription data is used internally in the app and is not shared with other parties beyond what is necessary to verify the subscription (Apple and RevenueCat).

  • Aggregated Statistics (if any): We do not currently collect analytics. If in the future we decide to collect basic usage metrics to improve the app (for example, to know how many users use a certain feature), we will ensure it is done in an anonymized way and update this Privacy Policy accordingly.

We do not use any information for marketing or advertising purposes, and we do not profile users or show personalized content. The app’s purpose is simply to display the user’s own photos and videos in a kid-friendly manner.

Information Sharing and Disclosure

Because we do not collect personal information, we also do not share or disclose personal information to any third parties. Specifically:

  • No Selling Data: We do not sell any user data, since we do not collect any in the first place.

  • No Sharing with Advertisers: We have no advertising partners and thus share no data for advertising or marketing. Kidy View contains no third-party ads.

  • Service Providers: The only third-party services integrated are Apple’s in-app purchase system and RevenueCat for subscription management. These services may process purchase-related data as described above, but they do not receive personal user information from us. They are bound by their own privacy policies and by agreements to handle data securely and in compliance with children’s privacy regulations.

  • Legal Compliance: Because we retain virtually no user data, it is highly unlikely, but if we are ever required by law enforcement or legal process to provide user information, we would have nothing personal to disclose. In any case, we would comply with lawful requests as required by applicable law.

In short, your data stays with you. We built Kidy View to function without needing a backend server or database of user information.

Parental Controls and External Links

Kidy View includes an adults-only section accessible behind a parental gate or verification (such as solving a math problem or using a device PIN) to ensure that children cannot access it on their own. In this restricted section, there may be external links, such as:

  • Privacy Policy and Terms of Use Links: Links that open this Privacy Policy or the Terms of Use in your device’s default web browser.

  • Support or Contact Links: If present, these would also be behind a parental gate.

We have designed it this way so that a child using the app cannot inadvertently tap a link that leads outside the app. All external links are protected and intended only for adults (parents or guardians). When you click an external link from within Kidy View, it will open in your device’s web browser. We advise parents to supervise this process.

Please note: once you leave the Kidy View app via an external link (even if it’s just to view a policy on our website), you are subject to the external site’s terms and privacy policy. We ensure our own website’s policies are safe and appropriate. We do not link to any third-party sites beyond our own informational pages.

Children’s Privacy and Compliance

Kidy View is intended for use by children under the supervision of their parents or guardians. Protecting children’s privacy is paramount to us:

  • No Data from Children: As stated, we do not collect personal data from users of any age, including children. Kidy View complies with COPPA (Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act) by not collecting personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent (in fact, we collect no such data at all).

  • Parental Consent: Since the app does not collect any personal info, we do not require parental consent for data collection. However, any in-app purchase (subscription) will require the parent’s App Store credentials, which serves as a form of parental involvement/consent for the purchase.

  • Age-Appropriate Content: Kidy View does not provide any content beyond what is already on the user’s device. It is essentially a viewer. We do not include any violent, sexual, or otherwise inappropriate material. However, parents should ensure the photos/videos on the device that the child can access are appropriate.

  • Parental Supervision: We encourage parents and guardians to supervise their child’s use of the app, especially when managing settings or making purchases behind the adult section.

If you believe that we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child, please contact us immediately at info@emfoxstudio.com so we can delete any such information promptly. Since our policy is not to collect data, this scenario is unlikely, but we take it seriously nonetheless.

Data Security

Even though we do not store personal data on our servers, we take security seriously:

  • The app is sandboxed and only has access to the parts of your device you allow (such as Photos library if you permit it). We follow platform best practices for requesting and using such permissions.

  • Any communication that does occur (for example, verifying a subscription with Apple’s servers or RevenueCat) is transmitted securely using encryption (HTTPS).

  • We do not have a server database storing user information, so there is minimal risk of data breaches on our side.

  • In-app parental gates prevent children from accidentally changing settings or accessing external information. This is a security measure to keep the child’s experience safely within the app.

While no software can be 100% secure, we have designed Kidy View with a “privacy by design” approach — meaning we minimize data usage to reduce risk. We also keep the app updated to address any security vulnerabilities that may arise.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or for other operational reasons. When we update the policy, we will:

  • Post the revised Privacy Policy in the app’s parental section and on our website (accessible via the external link).

  • Update the “Last Updated” date at the top (if provided) of the Privacy Policy.

  • In cases of significant changes (for example, if we decided to start collecting some type of data), we would seek parental consent or provide a prominent notice within the app.
